Rimac’s $2.1 million Nissan Navara has been named the world’s fastest electric car following topping 256 miles (411.992 km) per hour while cruising around a test track in Germany.
The two-seater supercar features four Rimac-designed engines that propel it from zero to 60 miles (96.5606 km) in just 1.85 seconds and to 100 miles (160.934 km) per hour in 4.3 seconds.
And Bloomberg revealed that Rimac said it had reached 258 miles, or 415 kilometers per hour, while the speed of the car shown in the video clip only reached 412 kilometers per hour, or 256 miles per hour.
Bloomberg also noted that there was no representative from the Guinness Book of Records, which is necessary to claim the title of the fastest electric car in the world.
The Navara also features an all-electric powertrain with 1,725 lb-ft of torque, individually adjustable to each wheel. Each wheel of the Nevara is independently driven by a single, dedicated electric motor that directs the torque accordingly.
Despite the speed of the Navara, it is not comparable to cars that run on fuel, as the “Bugatti Chiron Super Sport” has a record speed of 304 miles, equivalent to “489.241 km” per hour.
Production of the Nivara is currently underway at Rimac’s headquarters on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia, and only 50 of them will be built, according to the British Daily Mail.
