Choi Min-jung wins 4 overall in short track world championships, next national team confirmed

  • Choi Min-jeong, a Korean short track sign, won four gold medals by showing off her main specialty, ‘running out of the course’, and won the overall world championship for the first time in four years.

    Minjung Choi took first place in the women’s 1,000m and women’s 3,000m super finals at the 2022 International Skating Federation Short Track World Championships held today (11th in our time) at the Morris Richard Arena in Montreal, Canada.

    Choi Min-jung won the women’s 1,500 m performance held yesterday (10th) and earned 107 ranking points, beating Canada’s Kim Boutin, who received 84 points.

    This is the fourth time Choi Min-jung has won the World Championships following 2015, 2016 and 2018.

    In the men’s division, Junseo Lee took silver medals in the men’s 1,000m and 3,000m Super Finals, respectively, and took third place overall with 55 ranking points.

    The Korea Skating Federation selected one male and female athlete with the highest ranking at the World Championships as the national team for the next season, and Choi Min-Jung and Lee Jun-Seo were automatically selected as the national team for the next season.
