Chivato highlights the importance of the World Day of the Sick

“We cannot forget regarding spiritual care,” says the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the San Pablo CEU University

Next Saturday, February 11, the World Day of the Sick is celebrated. This celebration coincides with the celebration of the Virgin of Lourdes and has been celebrated for more than 30 years, thanks to our dearest Pope Saint John Paul II.

And why is it relevant from the point of view of professionals? We always talk regarding the importance of curing, curing when we can and if not, alleviating. And if not, always comfort and accompany.

But in the end, what are we talking regarding? We are talking regarding care and there are different types of care; the physical care of the ailment that one has, the mental care of the support he needs, the social and mental care of the people who accompany the patient. But we cannot forget regarding spiritual care thanks to numerous priests and also numerous nuns who work in hospitals and also beyond our borders.

Many people receive in the care of their diseases, their different pathologies, that spiritual care that also helps and is very important to heal. Let us conveniently celebrate the World Day of the Sick, without forgetting spiritual care.
