Chip in USB-C port of “iPhones 15” indicates support for Thunderbolt/USB4

After new images appeared that apparently show the connectors USB-C of the “iPhones 15”the people at ChargerLAB evaluated that the components reveal what they say is a chip which supports Thunderbolt/USB4.

According to them, it was possible to notice a “mysterious” integrated chip behind the USB-C port socket. After zooming in on that point, it was seen that it is a chip Retime — which is commonly found on devices that support Thunderbolt/USB4.

According to ChargerLAB, the alleged Retimer chip was found in all components released in last week’s images – therefore suggesting that the complete line of upcoming iPhones will support the standard, which allows transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps.

Since the end of last year, it is worth noting, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s expectations were that support for Thunderbolt would only be present in future top-of-the-line models (“iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max”); however, the European Union (responsible for “forcing” the adoption of USB-C ports) warned Apple once morest possible limitations in this implementation, so the company may have reconsidered this. He had taken!
