Chip “A17” may have the same 6GB of memory as the A16 Bionic

New leaks indicate that the “iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max” will be able to keep the same 6GB of memory present in models launched in 2022. The information contradicts previous speculation that suggested an increase for 8GB in this year’s most expensive line.

It is also expected that the “A17 Bionic” will have a CPUCentral processing unitor central processing unit.”>1 and a GPUGraphics processing unitor graphics processing unit.”>2 of 6 cores each with one 3.70GHz max speed. Comparatively, the A16 Bionic has a 5-core GPU clocked at 3.46GHz.

Furthermore, the “A17 Bionic” is expected to utilize TSMC’s latest 3-nanometer manufacturing process, promising better performance and efficiency — despite manufacturing issues. Predictions suggest that this might lead to a performance boost of 10-15% and a reduction of up to 30% in energy consumption.

However, as expected, the new chipset will be exclusively present in the “iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max”, while non-Pro models will have the A16 Bionic – possibly due to high manufacturing costs (or by Apple’s own choice, considering the company already did that in the iPhone 14 generation). ????????‍♂️

The “A17” is used by both the D83 and the D84, also likely planned for the D47 and D48 (series 16) as the D9x will use the t8140 (“A18”).

Apple should reveal its new line next month, with rumors pointing to an announcement on the 12th or 13th. According to Mark Gurman (from Bloomberg), the event may have an audience, but it must still be pre-recorded.
