Chinese rover finds glass globules on the moon

The discovery was made in the vicinity of the Von Kárman crater.

The Rover Yutu-2 of the Chinese mission Chang’e 4which is exploring the far side of the Moon, has discovered two translucent glass globules. The results of the research were published in the scientific journal Science Bulletin.

The globules were captured by the Rover’s panoramic camera on their way through the near the Von Kárman crater.

Although the researchers do not yet have data on the composition of the blood cells, it is thought that most likely whether it is impact glass formed during cratering processes.

“The glass spherules record important information regarding the composition of the mantle and the history of lunar volcanism and impact cratering”say the researchers.

As they explain, the glass globules are the result of a widespread phenomenon on the Moon, so might serve as a perfect sample to study in depth the history of lunar processes.
