Chinese President Xi Jinping met with representatives of the American business, policy and academic communities in Beijing on Wednesday.
“The success of China and the United States represents an opportunity for everyone. As long as the two sides treat each other as partners with mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, China-US relations will improve.” , Mr. Xi said.
“China’s economy is healthy and sustainable,” Xi said, noting that China’s growth rate was one of the fastest among major economies last year.
Xi said China is planning and implementing a series of major measures to comprehensively deepen reform, foster a world-class market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment, and provide broader development space for international companies, including American companies.
Xi urged the United States to work with China in the same direction, establish a correct strategic perception, and appropriately handle sensitive issues to maintain momentum for bilateral relations to stabilize from of a downward spiral.
Evan Greenberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Committee on United States-China Relations, Stephen Schwarzman, Chairman and CEO of the Blackstone Group, Cristiano Amon, Chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, Graham Allison, Founding Dean of the John F. Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Craig Allen, chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council, were among the participants.
