China – Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed Beijing’s readiness to work with the European Union to support the holding of a broader, more reliable and effective international peace conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as soon as possible.
The Chinese “Xinhua” agency reported that the international peace conference aims to set a timetable and road map for a two-state solution.
Xi also expressed China’s readiness to work with the European Union to promote a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue as soon as possible.
The Chinese President’s statements came during a tripartite meeting between China, France, and the European Union, which brought together French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a meeting with Macron and Ursula von der Leyen that China and the European Union should deepen cooperation and trust.
“China and the European Union should firmly adhere to the position of partnership, firmly adhere to dialogue and cooperation, deepen strategic cooperation, and enhance strategic mutual trust,” China Central Television reported, citing Xi Jinping.
The Chinese leader stressed that Beijing and Brussels should develop strategic cooperation, promote the stable and healthy development of relations, and continuously contribute to global peace and development.
Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived in Paris for a state visit on Sunday, their first trip to France in five years.
As part of his European tour, which will last from May 5 to 10, the Chinese president will also visit Serbia and Hungary.
