Chinese military planes invade the midline of the Taiwan Strait… armed protests continue

Protests continued, with a Chinese military plane crossing the midline of the Taiwan Strait over the weekend.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced on its website on the 21st that as of 5:00 pm on the 21st, 12 Chinese military aircraft and five warships were detected near the Taiwan Strait.

Of these, five, including two Su-30 fighters, two J-10 fighters, and one Y-8 anti-submarine patrol aircraft, crossed the midline of the Taiwan Strait and returned.

Taiwanese forces immediately launched fighter jets, issued warnings, and activated an air defense missile system to track the aircraft.

On the previous day, the Chinese military mobilized seven military aircraft, including two Su-30 fighters and two J-11 fighters, to enter the Taiwan Strait Midline and the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

The Taiwan Strait midline is an unofficial demarcation line declared by U.S. Air Force General Benjamin Davis in 1955 to prevent a military clash between China and Taiwan following the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the United States and Taiwan in December 1954.

China conducted military exercises to block Taiwan in protest once morest US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan (February 2-3). It is becoming routine.
