What if you want to start a cow farm but don’t have your own land? Either give up that desire or find a place somehow by arranging money. But a man from a city in China’s Sichuan Province has made headlines to make his wish come true. As he ran out of places to keep his cows, he converted the balcony of his fifth floor flat into a cow shed.
The incident came to light through Chinese social media. Not one or two but seven cows stayed on the balcony of the flat. It is not clear how the owner got them to the flat. Pictures of them eating together from the balcony as if in a stable have also been shared on social media. However, his happiness was short-lived. Neighbors might not bear the crying of cows and the smell of dung and cow urine.
Within a day of starting the balcony farm, there was a flood of complaints once morest the flat owner. Even the administration in charge of the city was surprised to learn of the incident. Officials reached the spot immediately. Things went awry, but the owner, who refused to back down from his decision, is still in a legal battle with the authorities.
He is prepared to do whatever it takes to get the cows back to the flat. Most of the people living in the residential area where the incident took place were rehabilitated from rural areas. Before this, there were complaints that many people who might not leave their old lifestyle kept chickens inside their houses.
More than four million people on Chinese social media have already seen pictures of cows living on balconies. People react in amazement at the unheard of event. One notes that cows never thought they would be able to live inside their owner’s house like dogs and cats. In any case, there are those who point out that ‘the builders did not show falsehood in the construction and it was possible to prove that they are standing firmly’.
