Chinese influencer who ate a live wasp
The wasp eats and the lips and face are swollen
Additional mukbang was announced, but the account was blocked
A mukbang influencer’s account was blocked following posting a video of eating a live wasp.
On the 13th (local time), Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that a Chinese mukbang star had his lips turned into a sausage while eating wasps and was eventually expelled from social media.
Mukbang influencer Wang Mo, who secured 560,000 followers on China’s TikTok ‘Douin’, held a mukbang with wasps last weekend.
Before eating the wasp, he said, “I’m a little scared, but I’ll eat it anyway,” and then he tasted the wasp.
Immediately following eating the wasp, his lips and face were swollen. The video has surpassed 100,000 subscribers, and he said that he plans to try once more on Sunday.
However, immediately following the video was released, the account was flooded with complaints regarding the risk that children might imitate it.
Netizens pointed out, “This isn’t funny at all. It can be life-threatening,” “There is a risk that children can imitate it,” and “Why do you do this for money?”
After a storm of criticism, Douyin closed his account just before the time Wang promised to try once more.
The SCMP reported, “Recently, in China, eating strange food causes a lot of traffic, so this kind of behavior is on the rise.”
Meanwhile, at the end of July, a female influencer with millions of followers was banned from posting a video of her grilling and eating an endangered great white shark.
