Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has urged China to refrain from words and actions that aggravate the situation in the Ukraine war.

According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on the 23rd, Wang said at a meeting of foreign ministers on the Ukraine issue at the UN Security Council held at the UN headquarters in New York on the 22nd (local time), “Each side should maintain self-control and deepen the confrontation. You have to avoid words,” he said.

“The direction of dialogue and negotiations must be adhered to,” Wang said. “The urgent task is for the parties to resume dialogue as soon as possible to reflect reasonable concerns in the negotiations, put actionable options on the table, and draw results to create peace lead,” he said.

“The international community must play a constructive role to help reduce tensions,” he added.

“The Chinese side’s position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear,” Wang said.

He added, “The reasonable security concerns of each side must be given due consideration, and all efforts conducive to peacefully resolving the crisis must be supported.”

Earlier, during a meeting with European Union (EU) high-level foreign and security policy representative Rousseff Borrell on the 21st, Wang said, “The current urgent task is a ceasefire.” will do it,” he said.
