THE Chinese government hopes that major countries can play an objective role in efforts to resolve the year-long conflict in the Gaza Strip. This was said by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning.
“Major countries need to play their proper roles, be objective and fair, take the lead in complying with international law, and make positive efforts to end the fighting as soon as possible, control the situation, and prevent the crisis from spreading,” he said at a press conference in Beijing, Wednesday (9/ 10).
On October 7 2024, it will be one year since the war in Gaza, when Israel launched an attack which to date has killed at least 41,909 people, injured 97,303 people, and caused more than 10,000 others to be reported missing under the rubble based on data from the Ministry of Health.

According to Mao Ning, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has been going on for more than a year, causing the deaths of more than 40,000 people in Gaza, most of whom were women and children.
“The international community has agreed on the need to defuse tensions, end fighting and violence, protect civilians and avoid a humanitarian catastrophe,” he added.
To end the conflict, Mao Ning said, political will and diplomatic efforts were needed, not weapons, ammunition and unilateral sanctions.

“China is deeply concerned about the chaos in the Middle East. We oppose actions that fuel hostility and expand conflict and call on all parties to handle the current situation with a calm, rational and responsible attitude in the interests of peace and stability in the region,” said Mao. Ning.
The international community, especially large influential countries, said Mao Ning, needs to play a constructive role and avoid further chaos.
The Palestinian Civil Defense Agency said the Israeli military threatened the eviction of more than 200,000 residents in the territory and neighborhoods of North Gaza and carried out massacres to force civilians to flee.

The Israeli army on Sunday (6/10) announced the start of a military operation in Jabalia that it claimed was to prevent Hamas from regaining power in the region, following hours of fierce attacks on areas east and west of northern Gaza in the fiercest fighting since May.
Then on Tuesday (8/10), the Israeli army warned Palestinians to evacuate their homes and camps in the town of Jabalia and head south through a safe corridor.
Meanwhile, the Gaza Interior Ministry warned residents not to comply because it was fraud and lies.
From Gaza, the Israeli military has also expanded attacks into Lebanese territory since September 23 2024, targeting the Hezbollah group. The Israeli attack has killed 1,251 people, injured 3,618 others, and displaced more than 1.2 million people.
