The company chinese Higer Bus announced recently which will have an electric bus factory in the region of Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará, in Northeastern Brazil. A vehicle assembly line start its activities in mid-2024.
According to the Chinese company, the new factory is the result of an investment of US$ 10 million (regarding R$ 50 million) that the company will make in the country. The plant of Higer Bus must be in the district of Pecém, in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza.
Higer Bus plans for this plant to have the capacity to assemble 300 to 400 vehicles per year in the first phase. In addition to serving the domestic transport market, the project will also supply other countries in South America.
In Brazil, Higer Bus will be represented by TEVX Motors Group. The Chinese automaker also invested another US$ 10 million in the design and development of an electric bus designed exclusively to meet the needs of the Brazilian market.
Further ahead, Higer Bus also intends to offer a hydrogen bus, also assembled in the country. The company also wants to produce trucks powered by hydrogen, taking advantage of the development capabilities of this fuel in the state.
Higer Bus was created in 1998 in China, has the current capacity to produce 35,000 vehicles a year and exports to over 120 countries. The brand arrives in Brazil with an eye on the electrification trend that the bus market is also following around the world.
A few days ago, Higer Bus delivered its first 15 electric buses to the city of Cascavel, Paraná. It is worth mentioning that the City Hall of São Paulo also seeks to expand the electric bus fleet by 2024as well as many other cities across the country.
