A Man Was Arrested After He Urinated On The Container Of A Chinese Brewery
Chinese police have detained a worker at prominent beer maker Tsingtao Brewery who was filmed urinating into a malt container, a week following the incident went viral on social media and hit the company’s stock.

The incident took place on October 19 at a factory at Tsingtao 600600.SS in Pingdu, a city in eastern Shandong province.
According to media reports, this incident caused the brewery’s shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange to fall by one percent on October 20, followed by a further 7.5 percent drop on October 23.

The Pingdu government’s investigation team stated on Wednesday that the worker was detained on October 22 for intentionally damaging company property.

The individual urinated in a malt container that had just been emptied, according to the release. Another worker noticed the incident with a camera and uploaded the recording to the short video platform Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

After the video went viral, authorities sealed all malt affected by the incident and removed it from the production process.
The incident resonated with many Chinese consumers who have long been uncomfortable with the country’s food safety standards due to a series of scandals over the past two decades.
Tsingtao said in a statement posted on the Weibo platform that it had taken measures to close what it called “loopholes in the management of raw materials transportation.”
These measures include the total closure of trucks “so that there is no contact between personnel and raw materials throughout the process”, and the introduction in the factory of a “behavior recognition supervision system” that works with artificial intelligence .
The brewery added that it will intensify supervision efforts and ensure the quality of its products. He also affirmed his full cooperation with the ongoing investigations.
Tsingtao, listed in Hong Kong, is the second largest brewer in China, and one of the most popular breweries in Asia.
