China banned ships from entering the West Sea this morning, saying it was conducting major military activities.

It may be a normal exercise, but tensions in the Taiwan Strait are rising, and the intention is noteworthy as it is ahead of the Korea-US summit.

This is a post posted on the website of Qingdao Maritime Affairs Bureau, China.

It has been stated that significant military activities will be conducted in the West Sea from 9:00 am to noon today.

It revealed the coordinates of six points in the West Sea and prohibited the entry of ships in the waters within the range connecting these points.

The U.S. announced a training plan the day after China’s military exercise to encircle Taiwan, mobilizing an Aegis destroyer in the Taiwan Strait for an armed demonstration.

China recently conducted a comprehensive training exercise in the West Sea by mobilizing a 10,000-ton destroyer and a 4,200-ton missile destroyer.

During the ROK-US military training last month, live ammunition was also predicted in the northern waters of the West Sea.

It may be a routine exercise for the Chinese military, but attention is drawn to the background at a time when tensions in the Taiwan Strait are rising.

There is also an analysis that it may be an intentional military exercise to check the Korea-US summit to be held in Washington next week.
