Ukraine-planned offensive might pave the way for negotiations between Moscow and Kiev by the end of the year, according to an American newspaper. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) citing American and European officials. China might help secure Russia’s participation in the talks, they also said. Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken did not rule out that China’s efforts might contribute to the de-escalation of the conflict.

In late February, China presented a 12-point plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which did not find a response from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has his own. In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that China’s peace plan might be taken as the basis for a peace settlement.
