The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said that imports of ready-to-wear clothing from China have decreased in the last seven months.

“It should be noted and noted that cumulatively, imports of HS61 clothing and accessories (knitted) from China from January to July 2024 experienced a decline of 4.75%,” said Acting Head of BPS Amalia Widyasanti in Jakarta, Thursday (15/8).

In addition, clothing and accessories commodities (not knitted) or code HS62 also experienced a decline of 7.17%. A fairly high decline was in non-cotton bras or code HS6216099.

Amalia said that export and import data would be better if viewed cumulatively. Because there are many factors that affect the increase and decrease in value when seen on a monthly basis.

“If the monthly is later affected by the shipping time process, then the stock each month, it might be different. But if we look at how a country’s export and import performance is, it’s better to see it in the accumulated figures,” said Amalia.

It is known that the value of Indonesia’s imports in July 2024 reached 21.74 billion US dollars or experienced an increase of 17.82% on a monthly basis and
11.07% annually. The main contributor to the increase in import value on a monthly and annual basis is the import of raw materials/auxiliaries. (Z-11)
