China’s petrochemical industry revenue rises in 2022

China’s petrochemical industry saw rising revenues and falling profits in 2022, according to the Federation of Petroleum and Chemical Industry of China.

The country’s petrochemical industry recorded total revenue of 16.56 trillion yuan (regarding 2.41 trillion US dollars) in 2022, up 14.4 percent year on year, while its total profit fell 2.8 percent, to 1.130 billion yuan.

In 2022, the import and export volume of petrochemical products increased by 21.7% year-on-year to reach 1,050 billion dollars.

According to the federation, China’s crude oil output reached 205 million tons in 2022, an annual increase of 2.9 percent, for a fourth consecutive year of growth.

During the period, the country’s natural gas production reached 217.79 billion cubic meters, up 6.4 percent year-on-year.
