China’s Hypersonic Drone vs US Fighter Jet: Aerodynamic Battle Revealed

China’s recently created hypersonic drone has been compared to the most aerodynamically advanced US fighter jet. Many experts give this description to the American F-22 aircraft.

The newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP) gives its comparative description of the new technology, citing the opinion of Beijing scientists.

Journalists claim that as a result of tests, the drone demonstrated more advanced aerodynamic properties compared to the “American”. In contrast, the Chinese device is capable of performing complex maneuvers even at high altitudes, where the air is very thin. This creates serious problems for air defense systems, since in this case they are unable to predict the trajectory of the target in order to destroy it.


During test flights, it turned out that the aerodynamic efficiency of the drone significantly exceeds that of the F-22 fighter. In subsonic flight, this coefficient is approximately the same for both machines – 8.4. But at a speed of Mach 6, the aerodynamic quality of the UAV is 4, while a US fighter has the same at Mach 1.5.

Thus, the Hong Kong media claims, the Chinese drone, the name and technical characteristics of which have not been disclosed, has successfully challenged the best examples of American military aviation.


Earlier, the head of the press service of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Liu Pengyu, spoke negatively regarding the supply of American weapons to Taiwan. He said Washington was turning the island into a “powder keg.”
