New York: China’s ambassador to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, has no doubt that the joint US and UK airstrikes in Yemen will increase the conflict in the region. He spoke at the UN Security Council meeting held yesterday.

Zhang Jun also criticized Israel’s claim that the United Nations failed to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza, saying that they would call on all parties to effectively comply with the UN Charter and international law and make joint efforts to maintain peace and security in the Red Sea and the Middle East.

“It is Israel that continues to attack Gaza and block the delivery of humanitarian aid. “But it is Israel that accuses the United Nations of not having the ability to provide humanitarian aid, and this cannot be accepted,” Zhang Jun said.

Earlier, China expressed disappointment and regret over the US veto of a UN Security Council draft resolution to end the war between Israel and Hamas and implement a ceasefire in Gaza.

In addition, the UN Ambassador Riyad Mansour said in the meeting that Israel should end the war in Gaza immediately.

“You have to increase the amount of humanitarian aid, stop the forced displacement and give humanitarian aid to the UN rescue forces in Gaza, but the ceasefire is essential,” Mansour said.

More than 23,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in the war that began on October 7.
