Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, July 20th. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced on the 20th that the Sino-US dialogue on climate change was held in Beijing a few days ago.

The reporter learned from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment that as agreed by China and the United States, the US President’s special envoy for climate issues, John Kerry, will visit China from July 16 to 19. Xie Zhenhua, China’s special envoy on climate change affairs, held talks with Kerry, and Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, attended the meeting. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state in Bali and cooperating to tackle the global challenge of climate change.

Both sides agreed that climate change is a common challenge faced by mankind, and it is of great significance for the two countries to work together to tackle this challenge. Focusing on the implementation of the Sino-U.S. Joint Statement on Addressing the Climate Crisis and the Sino-U.S. Glasgow Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 2120s, the two sides conducted candid, in-depth and constructive dialogues on issues such as promoting global climate governance and strengthening dialogue and cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides introduced their respective policy measures and action progress to address climate change, and conducted in-depth exchanges on energy transformation, global green industrial chain supply chain, low-carbon, zero-carbon and negative carbon technologies, and promoting institutionalization and pragmatism of cooperation.

The two sides agreed to continue to maintain close communication.
