BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang said Monday that China is willing to work with the United States to shoulder its responsibilities as a great country, jointly uphold international trade rules and ensuring the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

Mr. Li thus spoke during a meeting with a delegation of the American-Chinese Business Council (US-China Business Council, USCBC), led by its president, Marc N. Casper.

According to him, China and the United States, respectively the largest developing country and the largest developed country in the world, are characterized by their economic complementarity much more than by their competition. He added that the essence of economic relations between the two countries is win-win cooperation, and maintaining economic and trade cooperation, as well as economic ties, serves the interests of both sides.

China-US relations and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries are currently facing difficulties, which requires both sides to show sincerity, step towards each other and adopt joint efforts, remarked the Prime Minister.

China and the United States can surely achieve common development and work together to make greater contributions towards a better future for mankind, Li said.

China will open its door even wider to the outside world. As the country pursues high-quality development and its own modernization, its huge market enjoys huge potential and growth opportunities, he said.

China will continue to expand market access, optimize its business environment, ensure that foreign-funded enterprises are treated equally with domestic enterprises, promote fair competition and protect the property rights of enterprises, as well as the rights and interests of entrepreneurs, he said.

While congratulating USCBC on its 50th anniversary, Li spoke highly of its contributions to improving China-U.S. business cooperation, developing bilateral relations and promoting the well-being of people in the two countries.

Mr. Casper and other members of the delegation said that the USCBC supports the development of a solid and stable bilateral relationship between the two countries, as well as economic and commercial cooperation, which will inject enormous impetus to the economic growth of both countries.

Noting that the Chinese market is crucial to boosting the competitiveness of American companies, they said the USCBC welcomes signs of deepening reform and opening up from the Chinese government. They also expressed the hope that the bilateral relations will develop further to bring greater certainty to the business communities of the two countries. END
