China takes retaliatory measures against some US institutions

The US authorities, ignoring the repeated overtures and firm opposition of the Chinese authorities, allowed the leader of the Chinese Taiwan region, Tsai Ing-wen, to visit the US in the form of a transit and carry out political actions. The Hudson Institute and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library-Center for Public Affairs provided the platform and facilities for pro-“Taiwan independence” secessionist actions, which seriously violates the principle of the existence of one China and the provisions of the three Sino-US Joint Communiqués, seriously harming the sovereignty and integrity territorial of China.

Under these conditions, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese authorities have decided to adopt the following retaliatory measures once morest the Hudson Institute, the Ronald Reagan Bookstore and their managers: higher education institutions, other institutions, organizations or individuals in the territory of China are prohibited to carry out commercial activities, exchanges or cooperation with the two American institutions. Also, the movable, fixed and other assets of the four heads of the American institutions – Sarah May Stern, John P. Walters, John Heubusch and Joanne M. Drake, located in China are frozen. Organizations and individuals in China are prohibited from doing business or cooperation with these individuals. Furthermore, the four sanctioned persons will not be granted visas and will not be able to enter China.
