China Taiwan siege training US “Do not overreact”

Warships deployed around Taiwan began training with artillery and torpedo fire, and a large number of state-of-the-art fighter jets were also scrambled.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Army, Navy and Air Force combined operation to encircle Taiwan Island continued for the second day.

A Chinese warship crossed the middle line of the Taiwan Strait and confronted the Taiwan Coast Guard.

The Chinese military made it clear that this exercise was a retaliatory measure for the meeting between Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen and US House Speaker McCarthy, saying, “a serious warning against the provocation of collusion between Taiwanese independence and separatist forces and external forces.”

Today, tensions are expected to reach a peak as live ammunition training is announced in Pingtan County, Fujian Province, facing Taiwan.

The United States warned China not to overreact to the armed protests, saying, “We have sufficient resources and capabilities to ensure peace and security in the region.”

Compared to last year’s visit to Taiwan by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the level of armed protests in China is relatively low, so the possibility of a serious confrontation seems unlikely.
