In response to Asia-Pacific countries such as South Korea and Japan participating in the NATO summit and seeking to expand exchanges with NATO, the Chinese government said, “We will not sit down on a situation that harms China’s interests.”

“The development of relations between countries should be conducive to world peace and stability, not hostile to third parties or harming the interests of third parties,” said Zhao Lijian, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry at a regular briefing today.

“As important countries in Asia and important cooperative partners with China, South Korea and Japan have broad common interests,” said Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for Zhao Lijian. I hope to work towards it,” he added.

At the same time, Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that NATO’s new strategic concept document, which identifies China as a security challenge, “is gravely concerned and resolutely opposes it.”

He also warned NATO to abandon the anachronistic ideology of the Cold War accident and the zero-sum struggle and stop the dangerous actions that are disrupting the Asia-Pacific region.

NATO adopted the ‘2022 Strategic Concept’ at its summit in Madrid, which included “China’s explicit ambitions and coercive policies challenge our interests, security and values”.
