China revealed on Monday new images of the planet Mars obtained by its Tianwen 1 missionlaunched in July 2020 in the midst of a global race that also involved the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

The photographs are of the eastern and western hemispheres, as well as other areas of the red planet, and were taken between November 2021 and July 2022 by a remote camera on the mission’s orbiter.

According to the National Space Administration, thanks to the high resolution of the images, scientists identified several landforms on Mars.

China sent Tianwen-1 into the cosmos on July 23, 2020 and intends with this adventure to detect signs of life and to determine if it is possible to transform the star in some way to house human life in the future.

The arrival of the probe to Mars to the star led the list of the top 10 scientific achievements of the country during 2021 which formed the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Besides, the Asian giant plans to launch Tianwen 2 in 2025 in 2025 to collect samples from the asteroid 2016HO3 -located near Earth- and explore a comet.
