BEIJING: All 132 passengers aboard an Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 that crashed in the Chinese mountains have been confirmed dead. No one was found alive. The plane crashed last Monday while en route from Kunmung, the capital of the southwestern province of Yunnan, to the city of Guangzhou on the Hong Kong border.
Three days following the crash, the engine components were disassembled. Used by passengers in a state of disrepair. Items were also found. The Chinese aviation administration officially confirmed on Saturday night that all 132 passengers on board had died. DNA tests have identified the bodies of 120 people.
Forensic experts said 114 passengers and six crew members were identified. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
