In response to the visit of U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. House of Representatives to Taiwan, the Chinese military conducted practical training using a large number of military aircraft and warships.
People’s Liberation Army Eastern Front Spokesperson Sui announced through WeChat, a Chinese messenger, “On the 15th, the Eastern Front conducted patrol and combat training in preparation for combined battles in the sea and airspace around the island of Taiwan.”
“This is a serious warning aimed at destroying the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait through continued political maneuvers by the United States and Taiwan,” he said.
The Chinese military also released a video of a Chinese military aircraft flying over the Penghu Islands, effectively controlled by Taiwan, in connection with the actual training on that day.
According to a report by the Central News Agency citing Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, 30 Chinese military aircraft and five warships had entered Taiwan by 5 p.m. on the same day, and 15 of them had crossed the midline of the Taiwan Strait.
The Taiwan Strait midline is an unofficial demarcation line declared by U.S. Air Force General Benjamin Davis to prevent a military clash between China and Taiwan following the signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the United States and Taiwan in 1954. Military aircraft are being used to neutralize the Taiwan Strait midline.
