New cases have been reported in 27 provinces in China. According to Chinese media reports, this is the fastest-growing Omicron variant. With more cases coming in, the restrictions have been tightened once more.
Kovid cases are currently rampant in Shanghai, China’s financial capital. Today the lockdown is being extended and Kovid is conducting tests on 26 million people. The second phase of lockdown in the country started on March 28.
Authorities, however, have not yet clarified when the strict restrictions will be lifted. On Monday, the city reported 8,581 asymptomatic Kovid-19 cases and 425 asymptomatic cases.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has sent more than 2,000 health experts to Shanghai. The move comes following 38,000 health professionals were deployed in the city earlier.
