A new measure of China aims to prohibit government officials from using iPhones at work — a decision that forms part of his plan to curb foreign influence as his relationship with USA it deteriorates.
According to information from Wall Street Journal released by Archyde.comthe measure is likely to represent a “blow” to the public perception of Apple in its second largest market worldwide – which also took the leadership position specifically during the second quarter of this year.
China and the US, it is worth noting, have engaged in a retaliatory fight to reduce their technological dependence on each other. The US itself has taken action in recent years once morest Chinese tech giants (such as Huawei and ZTE), as well as banning public officials from using TikTok on their work devices.
Still, as we said, Apple relies heavily on China for both manufacturing and sales — but the company has always had a complicated relationship with the country’s rules, thanks in large part to the duality of Western politicians who champion free speech and the need to from Beijing to remove content deemed politically sensitive.
Despite the possibility that the ban on the use of iPhones by officials might have a chilling effect on sales in China, it is important to note that this ban does not extend to consumers in general. Therefore, the line “iPhone 15”which will be announced next week, will still be on sale widely.
Apple has not commented on the measure so far – and probably won’t.
