On September 18, teachers and students from the First Party Branch of the Faculty and Staff and the First Party Branch of the Student Department of the International College of China Agricultural University visited and studied in the Urban Agricultural Science and Technology Courtyard in Hebei Village, Shunyi, Beijing. Under the leadership of the resident graduate students Xiang Lanting and Ran Huilan, they learned about the basic situation of the science and technology courtyard and learned about the practical achievements of the science and technology courtyard. The Beijing Shunyi Urban Agricultural Science and Technology Courtyard uses the existing infrastructure of Shunxin Group and the existing orchards, vegetable greenhouses, woodlands, cultivated land, fish ponds and other field test conditions in Hebei Village to carry out scientific research and practical activities, and has achieved certain results in seedling cultivation, greenhouse planting, and mechanized management, which has promoted the realization of agricultural modernization.
The teachers and students first came to the living and working areas of the postgraduates stationed in the village to learn about their daily study and life. Postgraduate Xiang Lanting said that the experience of stationing in the village really helped them realize “writing papers on the land of the motherland and conducting scientific research in production practice”. Although the life in the village is sometimes dull, they have adapted well to the pace of life here, and the villagers are also very friendly.
The next stop was the planting and practice area of the Science and Technology Courtyard. The teachers and students visited the greenhouse, the nursery area and the vegetable base in turn. The greenhouse takes advantage of the ventilation and air permeability of the soil shed to improve the air circulation and planting conditions in the greenhouse; the nursery area focuses on high-quality vegetables and fruits, and has developed and cultivated a batch of tomatoes, strawberries and other varieties with excellent genes. In the process of nursery, it pays attention to pest and disease management, and accurately meets the purchasing needs of Beijing residents; the vegetable base also adheres to the “high quality” concept, applies intelligent management in the planting process, and provides high-quality vegetables with guaranteed quality and quantity.
During the visit to the Beijing Shunyi Urban Agricultural Science and Technology Courtyard, teachers and students from the First Party Branch of Faculty and Staff and the First Party Branch of Students of the International College expanded their understanding of the science and technology courtyard, increased their knowledge of modern agriculture, and gained a lot.
