Witnesses said they heard a loud noise at the time of the explosion, which occurred in the locality of Shenyang.
An explosion hit a bus and left one dead and 42 injured on Saturday in northeast China, local authorities said, who have opened an investigation to determine the cause.
Scattered debris
Footage posted on the internet shows the vehicle at the side of the road, the windows shattered, surrounded by scattered debris.
Witnesses interviewed by public television CCTV said they heard a loud noise at the time of the explosion, adding that the bus had not caught fire.
Open investigation
One person was killed in the blast, which occurred in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, while two others were seriously injured, according to a statement from the local public security bureau.
Forty other people suffered “minor injuries”, Shenyang authorities said.
An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the explosion.
