Esperanza Fuentes Dolmestch smiles nervously. She is not very fond of cameras or interviews. But when it comes to doing her routine on the bar or the trestle, she exploits her limitless talent. There her dazzling skill, elasticity and technique emerge.
The great promise of the Lobos de Chillán Club, a student from the second year of basic B at the Concepción School, at only 7 years old and following three years practicing the sports discipline, dazzled in the recent National Gymnastics Championship held at the Los Angeles Sports Center, where won five medals
She was champion on bar, second on vault, on floor and in the general competition and third on beam, in a competition that brought together 260 gymnasts, from 15 clubs from all over Chile, from Curicó to Villarrica.
“I have been at the club for three years. Gymnastics is fun. “I had a good time,” says little Esperanza, one of the members of Club Lobos, which operates at the Quilamapu Sports Complex, with the unrestricted support of the Municipality of Chillán.
Drive to grow
“The support of the family and the Municipality of Chillán is key here, which has provided us with resources for sports implementation. He gave us 6 million for the installation of the symmetrical bar. Now we have a space here to train, since for years we trained between the gym and the parking lot, with the risk of accidents. Since she was little, Esperanza showed qualities for gymnastics. He has a lot of strength and energy. We were greatly surprised by her performance, because she went alone to represent the school and the city. “She had a great attitude,” reflects the director of the Lobos school, Henry Acuña.
The academy was founded 22 years ago and teaches artistic, rhythmic and cheerleading gymnastics classes, with the participation of regarding 160 students from 2 to 17 years old, under the technical direction of the coaches, Diego Lépez and Angellina Fuentes.
“Esperanza has had great results like her sister. We have been able to develop gymnastics thanks to the fact that the Municipality of Chillán provided us with this space in the Quilamapu Complex. She supported us to have a symmetrical bar and will help us recover the well. Don Camilo Benavente put his hand in his pocket and supported sports in Quilamapu, strengthening several disciplines like ours. We are the only center in Ñuble where artistic gymnastics, which is an Olympic sport, can be developed,” explained Professor Diego Lépez.
Óscar Fuentes, Esperanza’s father, thanked the training capacity of the coaches and the support of the mayor of Chillán, Camilo Benavente, to develop the Lobos Club.
“Mayor Camilo Benavente has always supported us and has allowed the club to grow and improve its facilities where the girls train, also with the support of us parents,” he said, proud of his daughter, while she. She amazes with her routine on the bar, under the attentive gaze of her trainers and her colleagues who project pure energy in this beautiful sporting discipline.
