The Chillán roller hockey leaders expressed their deep gratitude towards the management of the Chillán municipality, following the inauguration of the long-awaited official rink for the practice of this emerging discipline was confirmed for Monday, April 22, at 5 p.m. Villa Padre Hurtado, Parque Lantaño sector.
The project was designed and presented by the Secpla team of the Municipality of Chillán and financed by the Regional Government, with an investment of 122 million pesos, and following almost a decade, it reflected the historical concern of the leaders of the Club de Tornado Roller Hockey, who dreamed of their own court.
“I thank the Municipality of Chillán for its support of roller hockey, because a while ago I had to emigrate to Santiago to play for the San Jorge club, but this field will serve the new generations because there are very good players who can come out. I also appreciate the management of Catalina Flores, Eduardo Flores and Nico Flores, because without them this track would not have existed. I thank my mother who has always supported me and the board of directors of Club Tornado who always worked for this project,” reflects the hockey player, Alejandro Aravena, a figure formed in Club Tornado, which plays in the Metropolitan League for the three-time national champion, Club San Jorge. .
“The greatest importance of this new hockey field is that we will be able to project a significant number of athletes who follow this sport. We have been playing the Southern League for three years, with which we have grown up as children. At the club we have improved performance, achieving an important milestone, transforming Chillán into an area where very good hockey is played and practiced. We appreciate the support of the municipality that always went all out for this project,” highlights Ricardo López, president of the Tornado Club.
“It is a tremendous pride to be able to count on this roller hockey field starting Monday, which is the first in the Ñuble Region and with regulatory measures to be able to host official matches. It is a job that has been done for ten years and the authorities listened to us. Grateful for the Municipality of Chillán, and especially for our mayor Camilo Benavente. The Lantaño Park area and its children will be able to have the opportunity to practice a sport that has a global presence,” adds Alejandro Pacheco, secretary of the Southern League and member of the board of directors of the Tornado Rink Hockey Club, which last year achieved the titles in the sub-15 and sub-17 categories of the southern competition, which brings together teams from Valparaíso to Talcahuano.
The future rink of the Tornado de Chillán club will have the regulatory measurements of 40 x 20. It will be the first official roller hockey rink in the Ñuble region; and the sixth in the south-central area joining the rectangles that are counted in Rancagua, Talca, San Javier, Linares and Talcahuano.
