“The U-20 World Cup is going to be presented at the FIFA Council in Saudi Arabia, where we are invited. Chile is going to be presented by FIFA as a candidate and with the full support of FIFA. This means that we have the first possibility of organizing the 2025 U20 World Cup. A tournament organized exclusively by our country,” Milad announced a few weeks ago.
And today a new step was taken: there is already a formal application from the national association to hold the most important youth football event.
Milad’s letter
Sporting had access to the letter sent by the general secretary of the ANFP Jorge Yunge, addressed to the director of the Business Affairs and Strategy Branch of FIFA, Nicholas Rozenberg.
“Along with greeting you and in relation to the reference Circular, the Chilean Football Federation hereby declares its interest in hosting the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup,” the letter reads.
“For this reason, we request that you send us at the appropriate opportunity the information on the necessary criteria to hold the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup,” it is added.
“Finally, I request that you declare the interest already indicated and, through you, inform us if at this stage any additional background information is required,” the letter states.
According to the aforementioned media, the helmsman of the Chilean soccer house is considering resigning from the vice presidency of Conmebol in case the Under 20 World Cup is not awarded to him.
