Asunción, IP Agency.- In a recent interview on the Paraguay TV program Tribuna, the Minister of Sports of Chile, Jaime Pizarro, shared his perspective on the impact of major sporting events, highlighting the positive effects that competitions such as the Southern Games and the Pan American Games.
Pizarro, who was asked about his impression regarding the evolution of sports scenarios in Paraguay, expressed: «I think that these stories are sometimes quite similar between our countries. “Chile has also been organizing the Pan American and Parapan American Games, which turned out to be a great event.” The minister pointed out how investment in sports infrastructure represents tangible improvements, while generating an important stimulus for the continuity of sports activity.
The dialogue also touched on the challenges that both countries faced in organizing these events. In the case of Paraguay, it was mentioned that there were doubts about the viability of the Southern Games, even with attempts to suspend them, but they were finally carried out, leaving an “interesting sporting legacy.” Pizarro emphasized how the determination to host these events has built capacity in both athletes, coaches and sports venue administrators, ensuring a promising future for more international competitions.
In addition, the Chilean minister mentioned his country’s progress in terms of inclusion, highlighting the first sports center for Paralympic sport and the designation of Chile as the host of the 2027 Special Olympics World Games. «Additionally, we have worked a lot with the Special Olympics.
