After the two co-pilots found out, they immediately took over the driving task and made a broadcast on the plane, asking if there were any passengers with medical background who might assist in first aid. A passenger who was on board at the time recalled, “The crew said we had to make an emergency landing because the pilot was uncomfortable. Passengers checked into hotels in Panama, and the flight resumed on the 15th, sending affected passengers to their original destinations.
LATAM Airlines issued a statement followingwards, saying, “During the flight, we complied with all necessary regulations to protect the life of the pilot. Unfortunately, he passed away following receiving further medical assistance following landing. We deeply regret Saddened and once once more expressing our deepest condolences.”
