Santiago, January 2022. People have thousands of options to decide what content to consume on the Internet. However, streaming and video games are a favorite. The TGI Digital View study by Kantar Ibope Media indicates that 53% of people in Chile consume more than half an hour a day content on streaming platforms (Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon, YouTube, among others. While in Latin America, 57% say they spend most of their time playing online.

The five most viewed types of content in the last 30 days in Chile are international movies (46%), international series (43.9%), action/adventure content (40.1%), science fiction/fantasy content ( 38.3%) and documentaries (27%).
Regarding the decision to subscribe to the platforms, for 45.6% of those surveyed, the main factor is that they have a wide catalog of new films and series. In second place is the price of the provider (39.2%), in third place that the platform has a wide catalog of movies and old series (27.6%) and in fourth place that it works well on all the devices through which it accesses (24.1%).
At the regional level, 56% of people declare that they consume streaming content daily. Brazil is in first place with 61%, followed by Colombia (60%) and Mexico (57%).
“Today people can not only access a wide variety of content on the Internet, but the way in which they can do so has also diversified. For example, in Chile, 80% state that they use their cell phones to connect and to a large extent to consume content from streaming platforms or play video games,” explains Carolina Flores, Country Leader in Chile at Kantar Ibope Media.
How are the gamers in Chile?
In Chile, 51% are men and 49% are women, and in Latin America, 57% of the population declares that they play video games.
The Kantar Ibope Media study revealed that one of the games most consumed by gamers is strategy, action and adventure. In addition, the decision to dedicate their time to this is focused on “passing the time”, “complete a whole game”, “get achievements”, “get away from the real world”, among others.
Regarding which characteristic determines the purchase of a video game, it is mainly identified by the price factor, the graphic quality and that the games have a free version.
