Precisely, it happened to me in the dive that weighs the most on me, but these are the conditions and we must abide by them,” stated the representative of Team Chile.
Neglia went even further and extended his criticism of Santiago 2023 for the lack of opportunities he had to test the pool in advance and, in this way, take advantage of the home team.
“We arrived on equal terms with everyone, that is, We had our first training together with all the delegations that had arrived the same day. We did not have any type of benefit for being hosts. A little upset on that side because I think it would have been a nice opportunity to show supremacy by being here in our house and not only because it is your country, but also to show that this is your pool and it has been tested in advance,” he revealed.
However, the competition did not come to an end for the Chilean diver, who will look for a better result in the three-meter springboard finalwhere he promises to surprise viewers.
“To advance to one more final in my fourth Pan American Games at the age of 30 is a merit that I feel very proud of. Now to look for another final where I will look for dives with macro difficulty that I have prepared a lot. I hope to be focused and active enough to show Chile and my competitors that I am a level diver… It has been a work of blood, sweat and tears,” he concluded.
Although the organization did not refer to these recent criticisms from Neglia, the executive director of Santiago 2023, Harold Mayne-Nichollsalready raised its voice after the constant complaints (for not having access to the facilities beforehand) from the national athletes prior to the continental competition.
