Every summer there are thousands of Chileans who have to pay the circulation permit to be able to travel legally in cars, trucks, motorcycles and other types of vehicles throughout the country.

The date to pay the circulation permit is from February 1st to March 31st. To do this, they can do it in cash or in two installments, as each person deems.

Payment methods include cash, credit or debit card and daily checks and can be made at the transit address of each municipality or different centers that are authorized to carry out the procedure.

The price of the driving license varies each year depending on the type of vehicle, that is why the Internal Revenue Service (SII) carried out an appraisal to estimate the value. You can obtain this appraisal by entering the agency’s website.

Necessary documents

To obtain the permit for used vehicles you need: previous circulation permit, approval certificate (if applicable), or current technical inspection, mandatory automobile insurance policy, which must cover the period of validity of the circulation permit and ownership card or registry, according to registration in the Civil Registry Service.

On the other hand, in a new car the following documents are needed: purchase invoice (includes the copy), registration in the Civil Registry and Identification Service (SRCeI), homologation certificate (if applicable) and certificate of homologation standards and by last, mandatory automobile insurance policy valid until March 31 of the following year.

It should be noted that if a person does not pay for the circulation permit, they risk being fined by the Carabineros.
