I approve of Dignity, Democratic Socialism and Christian Democracy presented a joint constitutional proposal that points to a 100% elected, parity body, with the participation of independents who are included in the party lists and with reserved seats. Earlier, a group of parliamentarians from the National Renewal proposed a draft of the constitutional agreement that is aimed at security and the rise in the cost of living.
Three meetings on consecutive days were enough for them and the incorporation of the Christian Democracy in the second instance, so that the ruling party closed a constitutional agreement that includes the phalanx and that will be debated tomorrow by all the parties with parliamentary representation.
The document released a few minutes ago points to the formation of a 100% elected body, parity, with reserved seats with a number proportional to the indigenous registration of the Corporation, among other points.
Regarding the deadlines, the left and center-left parties have proposed that the election of representatives be considered during April 2023, the functioning of the body for a period of no more than 6 months, in addition to an exit plebiscite in December 2023 with a mandatory vote. .
Faced with this, the senator appointed by the Christian Democracy to sign this agreement, Francisco Huenchumilla, said that “they hope that the right wing also has the greatness to understand that we have to have rules of the game, such as a new Constitution, to give it certainty. to Chile”.
Thus, he also hopes that “this is a new path that allows us to continue working together, until we can give materiality to this constitutional process for the benefit of the entire country.”
Regarding the institutional principles or the so-called borders, this document states that the text drafted by the new body must respect the unitary nature of the Chilean State, its condition as a Republic, and with that the autonomy and independence of the Judicial, Legislative and Executive powers. .
So also international treaties and court rulings; and he will respect and preserve the National Anthem and national emblems.
constitutional agreement
Regarding the so-called borders, the Socialist deputy, Marcos Ilabaca, and the Democratic Revolution senator, Juan Ignacio Latorre, spoke.
“The institutional borders is a process that the elected body must discuss, we have stated that we believe that there are indeed certain institutional principles that mark our republican history and our constitutional history,” Ilabaca said.
Meanwhile, Latorre said that “in terms of borders, talk more regarding institutional principles and we ratify our commitment to a Convention 100% elected by the citizens and equal, and there Chile Vamos will have to respond”.
Chile Vamos and constituent process
Earlier, a group of 18 RN deputies presented a proposal for an “Agreement for Chile’s public, economic and institutional security.”
This is a draft constitutional agreement, which incorporates as initial points commitments to work on public security and economic security.
In short, it seeks to include two special work commissions dedicated exclusively to the design and implementation of work groups on security issues and the rise in the cost of living.
In this regard, the deputy and general secretary of RN, Diego Schalper, asked “the political forces not to understand this here as a kind of conditioning, exactly the opposite, our interest is to persuade them that for the success of the constitutional process it is essential that the political leadership in our country -simultaneously- works on issues of security and economic security”.
Let us remember that the parties of Chile Vamos proposed that the new constitutional process begin with a commission of experts, in charge of drafting the principles to limit a possible second proposal for a new Constitution.
