According to the daily report, Chile added 8,904 cases of coronavirus, which triggered the total number of assets to 51,691. Although at the national level, PCR positivity was set at 9.39%, Tarapacá once once more led this table with 24.12%. And the incidence? In the stratosphere at the extremes: while Tarapacá scored 1,462.6, Magallanes followed it with 1,043.4 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. With 32 new deaths, the total number of deaths linked to the crisis reached 39,426.
On Monday morning, the Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported the detection of 8,904 new infections of covid-19 in Chile, 4,247 of them symptomatic.
The result of the day corresponds to worst Monday of the entire pandemic over March 29, 2021 (7,247) and June 7 of that same year (6,958).
What’s more, it is also a new maximum for the total number of patients in the active stage of the disease with the new definition (ten days from the onset of symptoms or date of PCR for asymptomatic patients).
Specifically, there is 51,691 active under this modality, above the 49,356 diagnoses of June 6, 2021.
According to official figures, the pandemic expanded 132% in seven days and 294% in two weeks.
Under this comparison, no region decreased its cases in either of the two scenarios.
“Of the 8,904 new cases, 17% are diagnosed by antigen tests, 46% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 25% of those notified are asymptomatic,” they indicated from the Minsal through a statement.
If you look at the incidence rate of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, two regions exceeded the threshold of a thousand: Tarapacá (1,462.6) and Magallanes (1,043.4)..
Positivity, ICU and deaths
Meanwhile, the national positivity of the PCR was set at 9.39% with the analysis of 79,160 exams for coronavirus by 158 laboratories.
Tarapacá once once more led this table with 24.12% of PCR positivity, above Arica and Parinacota (18.70%), Antofagasta (14.60%), Magallanes (12.24%) and Valparaíso (10.35%).
For its part, the UCI currently has a 85.14% occupancy with 2,100 critical beds enabled and 312 free.
There are 417 patients hospitalized there due to the virus, 340 of whom are serious and connected to mechanical ventilation.
The age group that represents the greatest occupation is that of patients over 70, with 130 people, 31.78% of the total.
Finally, the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS) added 32 deaths to the national list, with which the total number of deaths associated with the disease rose to 39,426.
