Algeria is not the only one to assert its right of appeal to FIFA in the context of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. Chile, through the voice of its federation, filed this Thursday an appeal with the FIFA once morest Ecuador who is accused of having fielded an ineligible player during the qualifying match between the two selections.
Decidedly, the qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar will not have been easy. On almost every continent, strong criticism is made, spectacular eliminations take place and appeals are filed following often improbable scenarios.
If Algeria is obviously at the center of attention following its request once morest the arbitration of Bakary Gassama during the meeting which opposed it to Cameroon, Egypt also filed an appeal once morest Senegal for more varied reasons. and related to the hostile reception that the Pharaohs had in Dakar.
These two appeals, still awaiting a decision, now see a third astonishing file added to the pile of requests filed with the FIFA office. Chile, a great nation of Latin American football, had been eliminated by finishing 7th (a unique group system allows to decide between the countries of South America).
However, the Chilean Football Federation has not lost hope of being present in Qatar. In question, the selection of a player, Byron Castillo, with Ecuador … while the latter would be of Colombian nationality. If the facts are proven, Ecuador would be excluded from the world and Chile, thanks to the carryover of points, qualified.
