Children’s News: Stolen! Teacher sold his students’ artwork

Do you like painting? Do you like swinging the brush and putting color on the paper? No matter whether drawing is your hobby or you prefer to do other things: painting is simply part of school lessons. After all, the subject is regularly on the timetable.

The pictures you paint there actually belong to you. Because outside of class, you can decide whether you want to show your works of art to someone, whether they should hang on the wall in the children’s room or whether they will simply disappear in the drawer.

Pictures sold expensively

In Canada, a teacher didn’t take it so seriously. And that’s exactly what’s causing a lot of excitement now. The teacher not only put his students’ works of art on the Internet, but also sold the pictures! And all of this without telling the children or their parents anything.

He probably kept the money himself. The teacher charged regarding $151 per picture. That’s the equivalent of 139 euros. He also had the works of art printed on coffee cups, cell phone cases and totes. And he also turned these things into money.

Accidental find

But how was his secret finally revealed? That was actually a big coincidence. A student used the Google search engine on the Internet. She wanted to know what the search engine would find when she entered her own name there. Since the girl’s name was attached to one of her pictures that the teacher was offering for sale, the search engine found the sales page.

The girl told her parents regarding it. And they were pretty angry. Like many other parents and children who were affected. After all, no one should earn money from someone else’s performance – especially without them knowing it.

And now?

The school now wants to take a closer look at the matter. The teacher himself hasn’t said anything regarding it yet. It is not yet clear what punishment the teacher might receive and whether he has to give the money he earns to the young artists.
