Fever caused by food stagnation VS fever caused by exogenous pathogenesis

Chinese medicine believes that children are the body of immature yin and immature yang. “Jiao” means immature and young, and childish yin and childish yang describe children whose yin and yang qi are still in a very weak state, not as strong and mature as adults.

In today’s era, as society is becoming more prosperous and living conditions are getting better and better, food and clothing are no longer a concern for people. There are many more types of food than before, and there are also various types of additives and processed foods. And children are more greedy. Many children like to eat snacks and drink cold drinks, but they don’t like to eat meals. As mentioned above, since children’s yin and yang, qi and blood are immature, processed foods such as snacks and cold drinks can easily damage children’s delicate spleen and stomach.

Fever caused by food stagnation in children is slightly different from fever caused by exogenous pathogenesis. Although they both manifest as fever, the heat of fever due to food stagnation is not high and maintains at regarding 37-38 degrees Celsius. Interestingly, the child’s fever in the morning The fever is not obvious, and it will “burn up” in the followingnoon. Compared with exogenous fever, the fever is usually higher, which is what we often call a high fever, and the heat has no time difference.

In addition, children with fever due to food stagnation usually also have some syndromes of spleen and stomach, such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc., which are not obvious in ordinary fever caused by external factors. In addition, the appearance of the tongue can also be used as a basis for identification. The appearance of the tongue can reflect the condition of a person’s entire body. If the child’s tongue coating is very thick and greasy, it means that the tongue is very sticky, as if there is a layer of mucous membrane sticking to the tongue. If they are fatter, the child may be stagnant.

White porridge with jujube paste helps nourish the stomach and whet the appetite

For fever due to food stagnation, since the mechanism is stagnation of the middle burner, the treatment must start with the spleen soil of the middle burner. Parents may anxiously ask what medicine to use when encountering similar situations, but from the perspective of Chinese medicine, extra care should be taken when administering medicine to children, because the medicines commonly used by adults may not be suitable for children, regardless of their nature or dosage. Because a child is a body of immature yang and immature yin, with clear and clear viscera. Therefore, for children, the less medication the better, or it is best not to use medication, because any medication is biased. In fact, under normal circumstances, if the child’s condition is not very serious, you can try pediatric massage.

One of the commonly used massage techniques for children is chiropractic. Clench the middle finger, ring finger, and little finger of both hands into a half-fist shape. The index finger is half-bent. The thumb is straightened to align with the front half of the index finger. Move forward, lift the flesh. From both sides of the caudal vertebrae, move forward alternately with both hands to the sides of the big vertebrae, which is counted as chiropractic once. This method is mostly used for malnutrition in children, so it is also called “pinching accumulation”.

If you don’t know children’s massage, or if your child’s condition is serious and you have to take medicine, then you must stick to the principle of gentleness and neutrality when taking medicine, and you can’t use some too harsh medicine casually.

Parents can occasionally cook some porridge to nourish the stomach of their children. If they are afraid that the porridge is too bland, they can also cook some jujube paste instead. The method is very simple, that is, following the jujube is cooked, remove the jujube core, add some flour and boil it to make a pot of thin and sweet porridge. Many children do not have a good appetite following recovering from a serious illness, and jujube paste is very suitable for nourishing the stomach and whet the appetite.
