Health insurance corporation data analysis of 1.78 million people
Insufficient vitamin D intake due to many foods to avoid
Studies have shown that children with food allergies have an increased risk of fractures.
Kyung Hee Medical Center’s Digital Health Center Professor Yeong-Gun Yeong’s team analyzed 1.78 million children’s data (2009-2015) from the National Health Insurance Corporation and found that children with food allergies had an 11% higher risk of fracture than those without food allergies. It was published in the journal Allergy.
The fracture risk rate for pediatric patients with mild symptoms was 9%, while the fracture risk rate for severe pediatric patients with anaphylaxis was as high as 21%.
Regarding this, the research team explained that it is because it is difficult to eat even nutrition because they avoid various foods. In particular, vitamin D and calcium deficiency weaken the immune system and bones, he added.
