Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that several children were under the rubble of a maternity hospital targeted by Russian forces in Mariupol.
Zelensky stressed the need to stop the killing and close the airspace of Ukraine immediately.
The Ukrainian city council of Mariupol said in a blog post on Wednesday that a children’s hospital in the city had been destroyed by Russian air strikes.
He said: “The Russian occupation forces dropped several bombs on the Children’s Hospital. The destruction is massive,” he said, adding that he did not yet know the number of casualties.

And the Russian Defense Ministry announced, today, Wednesday, that it had destroyed 90% of the Ukrainian military airports on which the Ukrainian army depends, and 2,800 military facilities have been destroyed since the start of operations.
Major General Igor Kushnikov, a Russian defense spokesman, said in a briefing that only a few attempts were recorded by Ukrainian Air Force combat aircraft.
On February 24, Russia launched a violent attack on Ukraine in an attempt to discourage it from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Russia sees Ukraine’s accession to NATO as a major security risk, as it will increase Western military activities near its borders.
