Colours, games and live shows. The emblematic Palma Street was transformed into a children’s paradise during the Children’s Festival. Along the pedestrian street, the hustle and bustle of the city was mixed with the laughter and excitement of hundreds of children who, accompanied by their families, gathered to enjoy their day.
More than 30 spaces were set up on Mexico Street offering entertainment, such as coloring, painting, making bracelets, storytelling, word searches, workshops with master craftsmen, memory games, photo sets, telescope observation, robotics, recycling, a rocket workshop, and a reading corner.
Also presenting a tradition, the boys and girls learned to design their own pandorgas to make them fly.
These eight blocks of the circuit were designed to stimulate the imagination and creativity of the little ones, creating a vibrant environment where exploration and learning go hand in hand.
The activity was organized by the Mapa: Abriendo Caminos Association, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady (OPD) and the Association of the Movement of the Historic Center of Asunción (AMCHA).
First Lady Leticia Ocampos expressed her joy at seeing the multitude of children, hand in hand with their parents, arriving to enjoy the many activities. “Today we celebrate our children as they deserve. This party is for them,” she declared.
For her part, Magalí Cáceres, executive director of Mapa, highlighted the collective effort behind the event. “This celebration has been organized with great care, not only by our organization, but also thanks to the collaboration of the Office of the First Lady, numerous companies, the Municipality of Asunción, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth, and, of course, AMCHA. Everything is thought of with children in mind, because they are the most important thing today and every day.”
This third edition of the Children’s Festival, since the first time in 2022, has grown even more, attracting hundreds of families looking for a space for their sons and daughters to have a unique experience. More than 100 volunteers got to work with the support of strategic allies to promote the right of children to play and learn in safe spaces.
Solidarity. Among the new features of this edition, attendees were able to purchase the magazine Los Viajes de Apolo, an educational material designed for children from 6 to 12 years old, the purchase of which contributes directly to the financing of Mapa’s activities and to the distribution of copies in rural communities in Chaco. Thus, each magazine purchased became an act of solidarity, extending the joy of this celebration to remote corners of the country.
“These types of activities are essential for the comprehensive development of our children,” concluded Magalí Cáceres. “Today we have created memories that will last, and we have shown that, with love and collaboration, we can build a better future for them.”
The party lasted until 7:00 pm, with families arriving as the afternoon progressed and taking part in some of the games proposed during the day.
