Kolkata: Israeli director Eres Tadmor’s ‘Children of Nobody’ has been selected as the best film at the Kolkata International Film Festival. The prize money is Rs 51 lakh.
The best director is Carlos Malave, director of the film ‘One Way’ from Venezuela. ‘Chalachitra Ekhon’ directed by Anjan Dutt won the Special Jury Award.
Ninefold Mosaic’s ‘Broken Dreams – Stories from the Myanmar Koo’ won the best film award in the Asian Netpack category. Gorai Fakhri directed by Rajini Basumatari is the best film in the Indian language category. The award for the best director went to the director of the film ‘Avni Ki Kismat’ Shonet Barreto. Haobam Pabankumar’s Manipuri film ‘Joseph’s Son’ won the Special Jury Award. ‘Main Pethango’ directed by Rajdeep Paul and Sharmishtha Meithi won the best film in the Bengali panorama category. ‘Asampoorno’ also received a special award.
Kolkata SRFTI student Kamil Saif’s ‘Last Rehearsal’ won the short film category and Ramen Bora and Sibanu Bora directed ‘Challenge’ in the documentary category. From Malayalam, Sanjeev Sivan’s ‘Phali Phalhi Phalhi’, Anil Thomas’s ‘Ithura’, Unni K. R’s film ‘Onkara’ and the documentary ‘Forged in Fire’ directed by Bindu Nair were screened at the fair. Malayalam director Anil’s Tamil film ‘Sayavanam’ was also in the fair.
